How we started
Rides for Pride began as a simple idea in a small Midtown coffee shop. A group of concerned neighbors noticed that many in our community were struggling to enroll in vital programs like SNAP and TennCare. Despite their eligibility, they remained unenrolled due to a lack of awareness or resources. The founders realized that many of these potential beneficiaries were also facing transportation challenges. That's when they had the vision to link vehicle donations directly to supporting our neighbors in navigating these crucial programs.
With the backing of local supporters and a dedicated team, Rides for Pride was established. Using donated vehicles, we could fund a free benefits-research service tailored for Memphis residents. Our mission was clear: create a bridge connecting those in need with the services that can change their lives, all while utilizing the power of community-driven donations.
Our mission
At Rides for Pride, our mission is to empower Memphis residents by connecting them to vital benefits and services such as SNAP, TennCare, Families First, WIC, and LIHEAP.
